WIP - Destiny Pinboard

Destiny Pinboard

I have more pins to add to this board but I will probably be re-doing it. However, some placements I am going to keep, specially Team Darkness, (Elsie, Eris, and Drifter), being right under the Pyramid ship.

Atheon under the vex milk pin and Mara on the left surrounded by her people, The Awoken are placements that are too good to break up. The placement flow is good it's just that the board is not. I am either going to try to salvage it or build another from scratch but I have this picture to reference once I start rebuilding so this is a work in progress board (WIP). Got to secure the board and do the hanging attachments.

There's not very many "independent" Destiny pin makers out there pinning this game. Official pins are OK but lately I noticed with the newest armory weapons the quality is caca. Not as detailed or as colorful as previous versions.

Nate and I also earned our first Legendary completion pin for Lightfall. I am very proud of that as we are a two-guardian team when traditionally it is three, but we managed it. I want to do the Witch Queen but the pin is no longer available which sucks. I believe those should not be time gated but there's a lot going on with Bungie right now and we are worried about The Final Shape. We have essentially six months to catch up on dungeon completions before that expansion drops.

This game means a lot to us and the phrase, "I hate this game. I play it everyday." can only be understood by another Destiny player. Love the lore, the characters, the merch and you bet my Hunter (main) is fitted.

Can't wait to add what we've earned on this board.

Completed Pinboard - Grills 1

Grills Board

My first pin board completed around July 2021.

This was a complete DIY project as I picked up a vintage frame, cleaned, sanded, and then painted it white. Also, constructed the backing board. I didn't have the tools and parts to secure the back at that time but I do now and those are the last steps I need to do to finish the frame but that can be done later.

I've completed more and will be writing about it here so that I have a log of what I have accomplished with my collection. I've spent a lot of time and money on this hobby just to store them somewhere in the dark for no one to see is no longer acceptable.

Regarding the board itself, part of me wants to re-arrange as the content of the board is a mix of regular girls, fantasy, kawaii and creepy. But they are so perfectly slotted in the frame and the flow is good that on the whole I like how it is so this arrangement will stay. I love girl pins and I always keep an eye out for them to add to my collection.

Before anime pins exploded on the scene I collected artist pins which consisted of original creations in pin form. Like any other collection I have. I went HAM. and now I have too many.

I am currently de-stashing and purging. I've put all the extras, outgrown and do not collect fandom pins up on Mercari so check it out if you're looking for something. Some are priced to go and the rest are priced by "market" value and I always consider offers.

So there's plans for a lot of de-stashing and de-cluttering. I know I speak of this often but this time there's more motivation. Hoping I can keep up with the organizing!

2024

Here's hoping that this year will be better. Once again, no resolutions only goals. Better health, improve the financials and do some home improvements.

We've got some projects lined up for this month actually. Now that we are more comfortable in the house we are ready to make changes. A lot of our items that we hid in our rooms we can now openly display. Having only Gohan and Inosuke also opens up our options on what we can do.

We would like our home to reflect us. We've got art, sofubi, pins and collectibles that would look amazing properly displayed.

So we are hoping for a year of improvements in everything. We've got a late Winter nephew on the way and a wedding to look forward to in early Spring. Life moves forward and we are here to take that journey.

Netflix: Onimusha

Onimusha

I thought this was going to be a series with Samanosuke Akechi either an anime adaptation of the first game or maybe an epilogue story of what happened but it's completely something else. It's more like a part of the Onimusha world. I am also unsure about the timeline on when this series happens in the franchise.

L-R: Goromaru, Sahei. Musashi Miyamoto and Heikuro

New characters with that hybrid mix of digital animation which I am wary of because of the latest iteration of Berserk, BUT it seems like this one moves so much smoother, not awkward, nor stiff and bulky, and easier on the eyes, much like Kengan Ashura is, which is another series I do love.

Also, looking at Miyamoto, I was like, why do you look like the main character from Seven Samurai? Because he is. His character model was the actor Toshiro Mifune who played Kikuchiyo in that classic movie.

Even though it wasn't what I thought it was going to be, no Samanosuke, I love the storyline. I was still entertained and to be in the world of Onimusha again was a treat.

Sayo

She's a great character. Strong and brave and carries quite a burden and a sense of duty. Reminds me of faithful Kaede from Onimusha 1. The are some holes in the plot that I wish I had an explanation on. I am trying to remember the games but they are spoilers so I will not mention it. I mean HOW was the Genma contacted? That's as much as I can say.

Oni Gauntlet

The only two things, for me, that tie the games with this anime is the Genma and the Oni Gauntlet. That's about it. The anime is still enjoyable as a standalone.

I hope that CAPCOM will consider a remaster of the games if this anime proves to be popular. A remaster comparable to what they have done to RE2 and RE4.

I am also hoping for a Season 2 of the anime, but the character designer for the series, Kim Jung Gi, tragically passed away last year from a heart attack while in Paris. The ending kind of hints of maybe more adventures with some characters and the Oni Gauntlet so I am optimistic that this isn't the end of Onimusha the anime. Definitely recommended to those who played the game.

Minor Updates

Did some minor updates to the blog. I still like the aesthetic and I am keeping it simple with a splash of color here and there.

Hoping to post more but time is hard to come by.
